Frequently asked questions

Everything you want to know before your visit – plus the key rules of the game.

Booking & access

How do I book a table?

Online via Eversports – just use the “Book a table” button here on the website. Pick the day and time, pay online and you’ll receive the QR code for the entrance door by email. You can book and play every day from 7:00 to 24:00.

How do I get into the hall?

After booking you’ll get an email with a QR code. Hold it up to the scanner at the entrance and the door opens within a few seconds. The code works from one hour before your booking at the earliest.

Can I just drop by without booking?

Yes, but only while the reception is staffed and if a table happens to be free. If you want to be sure of a table, book online in advance.

What are the opening hours?

You can play every day from 7:00 to 24:00 – booked online. Your QR code lets you in from one hour before your booking at the earliest, and everyone needs to leave the hall by midnight. The reception has its own opening hours – you’ll find them on the contact page.

Can I book just 30 minutes?

Yes – you can also book 30 minutes, at half the hourly price.

How many people can play at one table?

Two for singles or four for doubles. You pay per table, not per person – so the more of you there are, the cheaper it gets for everyone. Larger groups simply book several tables.

Can I play on free tables I haven’t booked?

No – only on tables you have booked and paid for. The table light switches on 5 minutes before your slot and stays on for 10 minutes after it ends. If nobody has booked the table before or after you, you can keep playing as long as the light is on.

Can I cancel my booking?

Yes, up to 24 hours before the start – online via Eversports, and you’ll get the full amount back. For later cancellations or no-shows there’s unfortunately no refund.

Is it cheaper if I play regularly?

Yes: with play packs (10, 20 or 50 hours) you play for less and use the hours whenever you like. With a Fixed Table you get the same table at the same time every week. All the details are on the prices page.

Do you offer gift vouchers?

Yes – you can give table tennis time as a gift voucher. Vouchers are bought and redeemed online via Eversports, right on our vouchers page.

I forgot something and my code no longer works – what now?

During reception hours you can get into the hall without a code and look for your things. Outside those hours, just get in touch: +43 670 40 05 133 or office@spincity.at.

Shoes & equipment

Can I play in street shoes?

No – street shoes aren’t allowed on our purple court floor, because small stones in the tread scratch the surface. Please bring clean indoor shoes with light-coloured, non-marking soles, or simply play in socks. We only keep a few pairs of loan shoes as a backup – not in every size, and only when the reception is staffed.

What should I bring?

Comfortable sportswear and clean indoor shoes with light-coloured soles – or play in socks. Rackets and balls are free to borrow, and of course you’re welcome to bring your own racket. Plus your phone with the QR code from the booking email.

Is there a dress code?

On the court floor: indoor shoes with light-coloured, non-marking soles or socks – no street shoes. Otherwise we recommend loose, comfortable clothing.

Can I borrow rackets and balls?

Yes, rackets and balls are available on site to borrow for free.

Can I borrow indoor shoes?

Only as a backup: we have a few pairs of loan shoes, but not in every size and only when the reception is staffed. Best to bring your own indoor shoes or play in socks. You can also buy table tennis shoes at the Eleven Points shop in the hall during reception hours.

Is there a shop?

Yes – Eleven Points, our table tennis specialist store right in the hall: with expert advice, rackets and rubbers to test and professional racket assembly. The shop keeps the same hours as the reception. You can also browse online at www.elevenpoints.at.

In the hall

Are there changing rooms and showers?

Yes. You don’t need coins for the showers – but please use water sparingly.

Can I buy food or drinks on site?

Yes, there’s a snack and drinks vending machine that takes credit cards.

Can I take drinks and snacks to the table?

Drinks in resealable bottles, yes. Please enjoy food and snacks in the chill zone rather than on the court.

Can I hang around after playing?

Of course – the chill zone has seats and tables, and you can get drinks and snacks from the vending machine. Please be considerate of everyone who’s still playing.

Is there air conditioning?

Yes, the hall is air-conditioned in summer.

Is the hall accessible?

You can enter the hall at ground level; there’s a small ramp of about 1.5 cm at the entrance door. The tables are accessible too, and there’s a toilet that works well with a wheelchair. Unfortunately the showers are not accessible.

Can I park at the hall?

Yes: there’s a large car park right next to the hall – 6 spaces belong to us, marked SPINCITY / Eleven Points and free for our guests. Alternatively there’s the Interspar car park about 100 m away (conditions as posted). Please don’t park in spaces belonging to other companies (e.g. CleanLine) – that can lead to legal action.

What if my ball lands in another box?

Wait until the rally on the other table is over. Then ask for your ball – or fetch it yourself.

Can I play my own music?

No, there’s already background music in the hall. For parties and corporate events, just ask us.

Can I smoke in the hall?

No, smoking isn’t allowed in the hall.

Can I bring my dog or other pets?

Sorry, that’s not possible – other guests might feel disturbed.

Can I hold a party at SpinCity?

Yes! There are dedicated packages for birthdays, kids’ birthday parties and other celebrations – from a games night with friends to the whole hall to yourselves. You’ll find all the details and the enquiry form under “Events & Corporate”.

How do I report something that’s broken?

Email us at office@spincity.at. If it’s urgent, call us or send a WhatsApp message: +43 670 40 05 133.

Training & playing partners

Do you offer training – for beginners too?

Yes – there are coached group sessions for every level, from beginners to competitive players, plus kids’ courses, neuro training and private coaching. You’ll find dates with free spots on the training page; sign-up is via Eversports.

How do I find someone to play with?

Come along to Matchday or Open Play and play against changing opponents. Or arrange a game in our WhatsApp community – there’s a group for every playing level.

Table tennis rules

How big is a table tennis table?

The table is 2.74 m long and 1.525 m wide, divided in the middle by the net. The centre line on each half only matters in doubles.

What rackets and balls are used?

The racket has a rubber covering on both sides – one side black, the other a different colour. The ball weighs 2.7 g and is 40 mm in diameter.

How does the serve work?

Toss the ball up at least 16 cm from your open hand and hit it from behind your end line. It must bounce on your side first, then go over the net onto your opponent’s side – and stay clearly visible throughout.

How does a rally work?

The ball is hit back and forth over the net and may only bounce once on each side. Whoever fails to return it correctly loses the rally.

When do you score a point?

Every rally earns a point – for the side that doesn’t make a mistake. Mistakes include hitting the ball into the net or out, or failing to return it.

When is a game won?

Whoever reaches 11 points first – with a lead of at least two points. At 10:10, play continues until someone is two points ahead.

How many games are in a match?

Usually best of three or best of five games. Whoever wins the majority of games wins the match.

When does the serve change?

After every two points. From 10:10 on, the serve changes after every point.

What is a “let”?

If the serve touches the net but still lands correctly on the other side, it’s a let and the serve is simply replayed. If the serve is faulty, your opponent wins the point.

What are the rules for doubles?

Serves go diagonally – from your right half to the right half opposite. During the rally the ball can go anywhere, but partners must hit alternately; if the same player hits twice in a row, it’s a fault. After two points the serve passes to the other team – and to the other player there.
